Hot! Gallery Abraham Lopez stops Espinoza in 4!

In front of another sold out crowd at the Double Tree Hotel in Ontario Ca., Abraham Lopez (16-0, 11 KOs) stopped veteran Gerardo Espinoza (28-11, 26 KOs) at :43 of the fourth round. After a slow first round, Lopez threw a left hook to the head that sent Espinoza stumbling to the canvas in the second. The third round went by without much action but a left hook to the body in the fourth put the Mexican fighter down for good. Referee Ray Cobian started a ten count but when Espinoza spit out his mouth piece he took that as a sign to wave it off.

In the co-main event, Super Bantamweight Richard Contreras (8-0, 6 KOs) brutally knocked out his opponent Angel Torres (2-7-2, 1 KO) with a vicious combination at 1:11 of the opening round. The heavy handed Contreras dropped Torres in the opening minute with a right hand as Torres was ducking under. Torres was allowed to continue and went on to land some solid shots of his own. Contreras would walk through punches unfazed to land a flurry of shots that had Torres out on his feet, only being held up by the ropes. Referee Jose Cobian was unable to see Torres go limp and allowed Contreras to unload 3-4 more shots until he hit the canvas. Cobian immediately stepped in and waved it off. The KO looked so brutal that the ringside physician wasted no time making his way into the ring to check Torres.

On the undercard:

In a fight marred by holding, Albert Herrera (8-3-1, 5 KOs) earned a hard fought unanimous decision over a quicker Marcus Robinson (4-1) after six ugly rounds. Herrera was forced to fight off Robinson’s dirty tactics in order to earn the victory with scores of 59-54, 58-56 and 60-53. Herrera was the aggressor from the second round on and seemed to outwork Robinson round after round. Robinson was penalized for hitting behind the head.

Rugged brawler Rigoberto Flores (2-1, 1KO) earned a unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Roberto Crespo (2-1) after four rounds. The ‘will’ to win quickly over powered the ‘skill’ to win in the second round when Flores simply pressured the Riverside fighter into survival mode. Crespo went from counter punching, to fighting off the relentless pressure, one punch at a time. Flores’ wild style battered the young fighter for three straight rounds for the win. Scores were 39-37, 39-37, and 40-36.

In an all action brawl between unbeaten fighters, Juan Reyes (4-0-1) earned a unanimous decision over Alejandro Ochoa (1-1, 1 KO) after four rounds. Ochoa started strong and was the more accurate puncher after one round but the Riverside fighter kept the pressure on and slowly broke down Ochoa. By the third round the head movement that kept Ochoa out of trouble was no where to be found and the accuracy turned to wild shots with nothing behind them. Reyes would batter his opponent, busting up his eyes and earning the victory with scores of 39-37, 40-36 and 40-35.

In a battle between two fighters making their professional debut, Isaac Zarate (debut) scored a four round unanimous decision over Anthony Briones (0-1) with scores of 40-35, 40-35 and 40-34. Zarate scored a knockdown in the opening round and again in the final seconds of the last round to punctuate a solid first outing.
