Today, Chris Arreola and Bermane Stiverne met on the campus of the University of Southern California to officially announce their May 10th clash for the vacant WBC heavyweight world title, which will take place at the USC’s Galen Center and televised live on ESPN.

Here’s what the fighters had to say.

 Arreola:

“I’m ready for this fight. I’ve been waiting for this fight, right after I got out of that ring and got my ass kicked by Bermane Stiverne. There’s nothing to say. I’m not going to blame my conditioning, nothing like that. I got caught by a punch that I didn’t see coming. But that’s what happens when you fight a world class athlete. I should have been on my P’s and Q’s the whole time but I wasn’t, I got caught and it is what it is. That being said, my nose was broken after the third round, I was wounded, I was easy and I should have been out of there. Any round after that, he should have stopped me. If I see some one wounded I’m taking his ass out and that’s my intention on May 10th, to do to him what he did to me.”

Stiverne:

“It’s not about shape, It’s about skills and I have better skills. I don’t have anything personal against Chris. I do think that the best heavyweights out there today are Chris and I. This fight won’t be choreographed, this is going to be a real fight. It won’t be a walk in the park. It’s going to be hard because I know what Chris brings to the table. I can’t wait to be crowned the heavyweight champion of the world.

Stiverne, 23-1-1 (20 KO’s), of La Plaine, Haiti and now living in Miami, Florida and Arreola, 36-3-0 (31 KO’s), the Mexican-American of Riverside, California will face-off on Saturday, May 10 at the USC Galen Center on the campus of the University of Southern California for the vacant WBC Heavyweight World Championship which will be telecast live on a special Saturday primetime ESPN broadcast.
