Beristain: I knew it (Mares vs. Gonzalez) wasn’t going the distance

Trainer Nacho Baristain talks about his fighter Jhonny Gonzalez regaining the WBC featherweight world title with a first round knockout of previously unbeaten Abner Mares on Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson California.

Baristain, who trained Mares for many years said he “knew it (Mares vs. Gonzalez) wasn’t going the distance” and stated that it “hurt” to see Abner knocked out.
