Darleys Perez defends title in Colombia!

WBA Lightweight World Champion Darleys Perez (31-1, 20 KOs) successfully defended his interim title against fellow Colombian Jaider Parra (23-2-1, 12 KOs) on Friday night. Perez showed a little bit of everything during his sixth round knockout win. His defense was sharp and his quick combinations overwhelmed Parra.

Perez, who is currently the WBA No. 1 ranked challenger to present world champion Richar Abril, is now positioned for greater opportunities within the stacked 135 lb. division.

“It’s feast or famine in the lightweight division,” said Perez, who is co-promoted by Gary Shaw Productions and Thompson Boxing Promotions. “I’ll enjoy this win for a little bit, but after that, its back to work. I need to stay focused and ready for the next challenge.”
