Audio De La Hoya: I’ll be surprised if Mayweather vs. Canelo goes 8

During a recent media workout to promote “The One: Mayweather vs. Canelo on September 14th from the MGM Grand in las Vegas, Oscar De La Hoya told radio personality Tattoo that he feels he has laid out the blue print to beat Mayweather and he’ll be surprised if it goes past 8 rounds.

“Look I remember facing Felix Trinidad and I felt I won the fight. I didn’t get the decision but I felt I won the fight. Then you have Bernard Hopkins fighting Trinidad. Bernard Hopkins had the blueprint. He said it himself. ‘Oscar laid the blue print down’ and what did he do? he made him look silly. Like an ordinary fighter.” Said the Golden Boy “Well the blueprint is right there. Yes Mayweather got the decision but i felt I beat him. So the blueprint is right there on what you have to do and Canelo knows what he has to do.”

Oscar also stated that the red-haired superstar’s potential has no boundaries and even went on to make a bold prediction.

“I think he’s ahead of our time. He’s a guy who is ahead of the ballgame, he’s more skilled and his potential is limitless.’ said the Golden Boy president “This is my prediction, if he doesn’t knock him out in less than 8 rounds, I’ll be very surprised”
