Hand Injury forces Omar Figueroa out of March 8th fight!

Lightweight Omar Figueroa was scheduled to meet Ricardo Alvarez in the co-feature of Canelo vs. Angulo on March 8th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas but today it was reported that Figueroa had re-injured his hand in sparring and would be forced to withdraw from the WBC title fight.

“El Panterita” injured both hands in his all out war with Nihito Arakawa last year but his hand issues date back as far as 2012.

“I ended up hurting my hand” Omar told Standnfight.com in May of 2012 in regards to losing his youth title on the scale due to being unable to properly prepare.

According to an ESPN report, Jorge Linares vs Nihito Arakawa will be bumped up to the co-featured bout.
