The “Riverside Rocky” Josesito Lopez (31-6, 18 KOs) won an eight round technical decision over “Mighty” Mike Arnaoutis (24-10-1, 11 KOs) on Friday night at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California. After two close opening rounds, Arnaoutis scored a knockdown in round three. Lopez ran into a right jab and put his glove to the canvas to keep from going down. Lopez rallied back in the sixth and seventh and turned it up in the eighth. Unfortunately the end would come early, an accidental clash of heads opened up a cut over Arnaoutis’ left eye and in between rounds he told the ringside physician that he could not see. Referee Raul Caiz Jr. waved it off at the request of Anaoutis and the doctor. It would go to the score cards where Lopez edged it out with scores of 77-74, 77-74, 76-75.

“It was a little tough, I felt off but I worked through it” said Lopez of his performance “He caught me with a jab, my footing was off and it was a knock down.”

“He’s a good boxer but this guy had nothing for me” said Arnaoutis, who felt he did enough to win a decision. “I had the cut in my eye and I could see nothing in the last round. I wan’t to fight Lopez again. I been out of boxing eight or nine months. If I’m 100%, I come back stronger and better, I have the guy”

A brutal right hand sent De Los Santos to the canvas in the opening seconds of the fifth round and referee Raul Caiz Jr. immediately stepped in and stopped the fight.

2012 Olympian junior featherweight Joseph “Jo Jo” Diaz (9-0, 6 KOs) scored a seventh round stoppage against Carlos Rodriguez (21-12-3, 9 KOs). Referee Raul Caiz Jr. would stop the action at 1:13 after an accumulation of punches hurt Rodriguez.
