Josesito Lopez parts ways with Trainer Henry Ramirez

According to reports, welterweight Josesito Lopez (33-7, 19 KOs) has parted ways with long-time trainer Henry Ramirez. Apparently looking to make some changes following his KO loss to Andre Berto earlier this year, “The Riverside Rocky” has hired 2012 trainer of the year Robert Garcia.

Lopez had a career reviving win with his come from behind KO victory over Victor Ortiz in 2012 but jump up a weight class to face Canelo Alvarez and was floored three times before getting stopped inside 5 rounds. A 6 round KO loss to Marcos Maidana followed but Lopez did manage to end 2013 with a win over Mike Arnaoutis. 2 lack-luster wins in 2014 set up the must-win with Berto.

We’ll now wait and see what direction Lopez chooses to go under the guidance of Garcia who’s stable has included Nonito Donaire, Brandon Rios, Mikey Garcia, Evgeny Gradovich, Antonio Margarito (who’s set for a return) and Marcos Maidana, just to name a few.
