Hot! Klimov Edges Rodriguez!

Andrey Klimov vs. Robert Rodriguez

On a cold, rainy Saturday night in Pomona Ca., Andrey Klimov (13-0 7 KOs) edged out a majority decision over previously unbeaten Robert Rodriguez (6-1 2KOs) after 8 action packed rounds.

The two went blow-for-blow for most of the fight with one judge even calling the eight round battle a draw. Unfortunately for the Colorado fighter that scorecard would be over ruled by the other two judges that saw Klimov close strong and earn scores of 77-75.

Rodriguez had his moments as he accurately counter punched an aggressive Klimov but as the fight went on the Russian began to outwork Rodriguez and his battered and bruised face showed the result of a hard fought battle.

On the undercard,

Undefeated Jessie Roman (10-0 6 KOs) battered an over matched and over weight Ramon Flores (3-15-2 3KOs) for four straight rounds to earn a unanimous decision. Scores were 40-36 on all three cards.

Vahe Sahruhan (4-0 2KOs) had his way with an outclassed Ronald Rodriguez (1-3 1KO) until referee Tom Taylor mercifully stepped in and called a halt to the one-sided beating at 1:06 of the fourth round.

Unbeaten Jessie Villanueva (3-0 2KO) edged out a majority decision over Emmanuel Machoro (0-6-1) after six rounds. Scores were 39-37, 39-37 and 38-38.

Jesus Partida (1-0-1,) won a hard fought majority decision over Carlos Gonzalez (0-1).

Those who were able to brave the wet weather at the Finish Line Bar and Grill saw El Monte’s Ricky Duenas (10-1 6 KOs) stop his opponent Rufino Flores (2-4) in the final fight of the night. According to FightJunkyBoxing Duenas landed a left hook that sent his opponent crashing to the canvas in the second round to score the only KO of the night..

Undefeated Xavier Montelongo (1-0) was suppose to see action on this night but for unknown reasons his bout was scratched.
