Mayweather and Canelo Face Off in NY!
Today, Boxing shut down Time Square in New York to officially announce “The One: Mayweather vs. Alvarez” on September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. NY was the first of the eleven stops being made in the nation wide media/fan tour which ends on July 2nd in L.A.
Neither fighter had very much to say today, hopefully things get a little more heated as the two make their way across the country.
Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. – 44-0, 26 KOs
“[Canelo] is a young champion and he’s earned his right to be up here with me and come September 14th, It’s the best vs. the best”
“This is a business and I understand the business in the sport of boxing. He was a young champion that was fighting on my undercards and the ultimate goal was to make him a superstar so he can face Floyd Mayweather”
“He’s done some right thus far to get to this level and on September 14th you’re going to see a hell of a fight”
Saul “Canelo” Alvarez – 42-0-1, 30 KOs
“Without question, everybody knows Floyd is the best but this is my time!”
“Obviously this is the biggest [fight of my career] but I’ve visualized this in my mind for a while and I’m going to be ready”
“Floyd is a very intelligent fighter but I’m going to have the right game plan and were working on that right now”
