Thompson Boxing Closes 2012 with a BANG!

After a rollicking year of hair-raising Thompson Boxing Promotions fight cards, the finale does not take a backward step.

It may be the last fight card of 2012 but Thompson Boxing is putting on the big guns with Christopher Martin, Artemio Reyes Jr. and Javier Torres taking to the ring on Friday November 16 at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario.

Newly signed Martin (24-2-3, 7 KOs) may not have the eye-popping knockouts on his fight resume, but it doesn’t mean a thing as his last opponent discovered in Corona. The San Diego boxer displayed that to Mexico’s Roberto Castaneda who was promptly belted out of there in six rounds. Now the fighter known as “The San Diego Kid” fights another rugged fighter in Robert Guillen in an 8-round super bantamweight battle.

Guillen (6-9-3, 1 KO) fights out of Glendale, Arizona and has a reputation for toughness as shown in his previous fights against some of the best in boxing. He last fought and beat prospect Rafael Valenzuela a fighter with only two losses in 15 fights. The 36-year-old has fought several world title capable fighters in the past.

Tickets for “LOCKED N’ LOADED” are priced at $75, $45, and $30. They are available now and may be purchased by calling 714-935-0900.

In the co-main event San Bernardino slugger Artemio Reyes Jr. (17-2, 13 KOs) returns to fight Gerardo “Pipino” Cuevas Jr. of Chihuahua, Mexico in an 8-round welterweight competition. The lanky bomber has racked up back-to-back wins including a second round knockout of John David Charles last August.

Cuevas (15-8, 13 KOs) has a two-fight winning streak too and isn’t looking to merely survive when facing Reyes. He’s a big puncher and rarely wins by decision. Instead, he goes into every fight as a head hunter.

Derrick “Whoop Dat Ass” Murray (4-0-1, 3 KOs) has proven to be as colorful as his nickname. The St. Louis product engaged in one of the best four round fights of the year in his last appearance against Cuban Pedro Toledo. The junior lightweight fight ended in a draw but had the fans blown away by the action. Murray fights Oscar Chinchilla (2-2-1) of L.A. in a four round lightweight bout.

Heavyweight hopeful Javier Torres (4-0, 2 KOs) returns for the third time and faces Marlon Santizo (0-1) of Los Angeles in a bout set for four rounds. Torres was recently signed by Thompson Boxing.

San Bernardino’s Joshua Conley (3-0, 3 KOs) looks to keep his unbeaten streak alive when he faces another bomber in Mike Noriega (4-1, 4 KOs) of L.A in a four round super welterweight war. Neither junior middleweight has ever won by decision. All of their combined wins have come by knockout.

San Pedro’s Isaac Zarate (4-0) looks to keep his record spotless against L.A. based Abel Gomez (3-5, 1 KO) in a four round junior featherweight clash.

It’s the last fight card of 2012 and for certain every bout is compelling.

Bouts subject to change. Doors open at 6:30 pm, and the first bell rings at 7:30 pm. The Doubletree Hotel is located at 222 North Vineyard Avenue in Ontario. The hotel phone number is 909-937-0900.
