Video Trout defeats Cotto in NY!

Undefeated WBA super welterweight champion Austin “No Doubt” Trout (26-0, 14 KOs) successively defended his title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Miguel Cotto (37-4, 30 KOs) on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Trout took command early while Cotto rallied back in the middle rounds but in the end, Trout would close the show with a late push to earn scores of 117-111, 117-111, 119-109.

“If I agree or not, that was the decision” said a disappointing Cotto as he exited the ring.

“Miguel Cotto is a great champion, it was just an honor to be in the same ring but It’s an even bigger honor to be the man who defeated him in New York” said Trout, who called out Saul “Canelo” Alvarez after the victory “Give me Canelo, it’s time to unify this division. There are a lot of champions but I want to be the best and declaring the best means I got all the belts, so I need that strap off his waist”

Unbeaten featherweight Jayson Velez (20-0, 15 KOs) destroyed Salvador Sanchez II (30-5-3, 18 KOs) to secure the vacant WBC silver featherweight title and a shot at division champion Daniel Ponce De Leon. Velez floored Sanchez in round two and again in round three. Referee Harvey Dock called it off moments later at :38 of round three.

Middleweight Danny Jacobs (24-1, 21 KOs) stopped Chris Fitzpatrick (15-3, 6 KOs) after five rounds. A battered Fitzpatrick would not answer the call for round six.
