Bob Arum Blasts Showtime and Oscar De La Hoya!

At the post fight presser following the war between Brandon Rios and Mike Alvarado, promoter Bob Arum took the opportunity to blast Showtime and Golden Boy promotions’ Oscar De La Hoya.

“Fans want to see action and they want to see exciting fights. That’s what the fans want to see. Other people who are involved in boxing want to sign fighters and have them fight tomato cans and networks pay to show those fights. That’s not what the fans want. Said Arum in response to good match-ups being made with even better results “For years, we were fed a steady diet of this kid [Andre] Berto with guys that nobody remembers their names. That cost millions of dollars to one of the networks, and what did they get from it? Guts but what did their subscribers get? The finger! And some guy that used to be in the music business raped HBO and hoodwinked the public and that hopefully is over. Except on the network that gives out sinecures but they’re [Showtime] second so who cares. Nobody watches them anyway”

Arum ended his rant with a response to a De La Hoya tweet where he stated that he had cancelled his HBO subscription.

“well Oscar is absolutely one of the brainiest guys I’ve ever known and he probably did it while putting on those leggings” Arum joked “NO! I really mean, who the hell is Oscar De La Hoya? I mean he’s a moron!”
