It wasn’t at all pretty but Cornelius Bundrage (31-4, 18 KOs) muscled his way through Cory Spinks (39-6, 11 KOs) to get a 7th round KO victory on Saturday Night at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio Ca.

An overhand right floored Spinks in the first but he was able to survive and even get back into the fight. The following rounds were riddled with wrestling and sloppy tactics until a big right hand sent Spinks crashing to the canvas. Two more knockdowns left referee Ray Corona no choice but to wave it off at 2:32.

“I felt like I was going to get him. That’s why I was Kind of hard-headed, cause I knew I was going to get him. You cant stand up to all that fire.” said Bundrage “We want Canelo. I think that would be a good fight. He’s a fighter, i’m a fighter… Let’s get it on”

Southpaw speed demon Gary Russell Jr. (19-0, 11 KOs) needed less than 3 rounds to annihilate Christopher Perez (23-2, 14 KOs) with a whirlwind of punches. Russell Jr. used blinding speed to overwhelm his Mexican opponent, landing a flurry of punches in the 2nd round that included the left-right combination that floored Perez. Three more knockdowns in the third round left the referee no choice but to step in and stop the Tasmanian devil from doing further damage. Official time was 1:41.

Despite a solid effort by a game Freddy Hernandez (30-2, 20 KOs), he would come up short against Erislandy Lara (16-1-1, 11 KOs) who technically dissected him over 10 bloody rounds. Freddy pressed the action from the opening bell but Lara used every inch of the ring to his advantage, out boxing Hernandez to earn the unanimous decision with scores of 95-94, 98-91 and 99-90. After the fight, Hernandez was a bloody mess, cut over, and between both eyes, on his chin and under the right eye. Some caused by headbutts to which Lara was penalized a point in the 6th round.
