Caballero Defeats Santiago!
Super Bantamweight prospect Randy Caballero (12-0, 7 KOs) successfully defended his WBC Youth title Friday night at the Fantasy Springs Casino when he turned in a solid performance and earned a unanimous decision over Arturo Santiago (7-3-1, 4 KOs) with scores of 80-70 by all three judges. Santiago was deducted points in rounds 3 and 6 for holding.
In an entertaining scrap between tough jr welterweights, Andrew Cancio (11-1-2, 11 KOs) dug deep in the final round and floored his opponent Fernando Carcamo (9-2, 6 KOs) twice to secure the 8 round majority decision victory in a close, give-and-take battle. Scores were 76-74, 76-74 and 75-75.
On the undercard,
Middleweight Angel Osuna (6-3-1, 4 KOs) won a four round unanimous decision over John Worthy (1-2).
Light welterweights Kenny Williams (2-0, 1 KO) and Joaquin Chaves (0-1) fought to a four round majority decision draw.
Flyweight Oscar Vasquez (1-0) dropped his opponent Vicente Medellin (0-1) in the first round and went on to score a one-sided victory after four complete rounds with scores of 40-34.
Osman Rivera (0-1) edged out a split decision victory over Jose Garcia (0-4) after four rounds.
