Rap icon 50 Cent recently shook up the Boxing world when he announced that he, along with boxer Floyd Mayweather would turn his attention towards the sport and take a crack at promoting. The announcement, made while Mayweather was serving a 3 month sentence in a Las Vegas jail has been met with mixed emotions but one question seems to be… can a fight with Manny Pacquiao now happen with Golden Boy Promotions out of the way?
The Queens rapper recently appeared on L.A Radio station Power 106 with newly signed talent Andre Dirrell to discuss the TMT (The Money Team) Promotions movement.
“It was Floyd’s idea to develop the company and the timing was right.” Said 50 “when he was going in, he asked me to do it so I started putting the pieces to the puzzle together and Andre was the first piece”
During the interview, 50 Cent was asked: Can you make a Mayweather/Pacquiao fight happen?
“I believe I can” answered 50 “I believe I’m a big reason why the possibility is coming closer. We’re in communication so hopefully we can get the show going”
50 finished out the interview with a small TMT roll call that included Dirrell, IBF featherweight champ Billy Dib, former featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa and Zab Judah.
“I’m walking around with the top fighters in the world, I want somebody to say something stupid” 50 said after promoting his movie “Freelancers” and new single “New day” featuring Dr. Dre and Alicia Keys “I got Andre Dirrell with me tonight, Gamboa and a bunch of other fighters too. Billy Dib, he’s out of Australia. He got the IBF title right now, he’s signed to the company and we’re working with Zab Judah.”
