Canelo vs. Kirkland on Sept.15!

On Thursday morning Oscar de la Hoya took to the L.A airwaves to promote Golden Boy Promotions’ fight card this Saturday at the Home depot Center in Carson Ca.

93.5 KDAY morning host “Tattoo” asked the Golden Boy what was up next for Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, following the news of scheduled opponent Paul Williams’ motorcycle crash that left him paralyzed from the waist down.

“We’re looking at James Kirkland for Canelo in September” De la Hoha stated “That’s going to be a war”

Later RingTV.com (owned by GBP) confirmed the statment, posting “Alvarez-Kirkland is ‘Done’ for Sept.15”

“It’s confirmed that we have a deal,” GB CEO Schaefer told the Ring. “I just got confirmation two minutes ago that Kirkland is on board, so it’s going to be Canelo versus Kirkland on Sept. 15 at the MGM Grand.”
