Hot! ”Chocolatito” Gonzalez Defends World Title in Pomona!

Top Rank brings to the Fairplex in Pomona an evening of championship boxing on Saturday, April 28, featuring the two-division champion Roman ”Chocolatito” Gonzalez defending his WBA Light Flyweight title against the former world champion Ramon Garcia Hirales in the main event.

Gonzalez, 31-0 (26 KOs) of Managua, Nicaragua is a former WBA Minimum Weight champion, will be making his fourth defense of his WBA Mini Flyweight title. The hard-punching, 24-year Gonzalez meets Mexico’s Ramon Garcia ”Principe” Hirales 16-3-1 (9 KOs) in what figures to be an explosive match-up, due to the speed and southpaw stance presented by the Mexican fighter against the ferocious punching power presented by the defending champion.

Garcia is coming off a WBO Light Flyweight title loss via decision to Donnie Nietes in the Philippines in November of last year and will be looking for revenge as the defending world champion is coming off three-straight KO’s over fellow Mexicans.

The exciting card has a solid undercard of fights.

The undercard will see undefeated Jesse Magdaleno 8-0 (5 KOs) hailing from Las Vegas will take on Kansas City’s KO artists Nick Fast 7-1-1 (6 KOs) in a six round Super Bantamweight bout.

Roman is coming off a KO win last month at the Finish Line Sports Grill located adjacent to the Fairplex itself.

Riverside California’s Herrera is the brother of Mauricio Herrera, who just came off a fight of the year candidate against Mike Alvarado last April 14 in Las Vegas.
