*UPDATE* According to reports by Yahoo Sports and FightHype, the glove issue that threatened the cancelation of tonights Mayweather vs. Maidana fight  has been resolved. Mayweather will wear his Grant gloves and Maidana will wear  the approved Everlast gloves. Neither report provided any details beyond that, no word on whether Maidana would be allowed to wear the MX version or another model. Just that the issue has been resolved and the fight is on.
Let the head-games begin, Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana both made weight this afternoon but moments after, the two camps clashed and could not come to an agreement about the gloves Maidana would be wearing when the two meet on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Maidana who tipped the scale at 146.5 was plannin on wearin a custom made, Argentine themed pair of Evelast MX gloves (known to some as punchers gloves). Mayweather who scaled in at 146 even, rejected the gloves after inspecting them and trying them on, claiming the gloves had “no padding”

“If a motherf***er can beat me, he got to do it the hard way” said Mayweather in a video shot by FightHype “No motherf***er needs to be cutting no corners”

Trainer Robert Garcia was in the room during the inspection and can be heard arguing their side.

“It’s just a regular Evelast” said Garcia

“Aint no f***ing padding in this glove” responded Mayweather “Put him in the same sh*t as me, he fighting in the same sh*t as me”

**Update** According to reports, the custom Everlast gloves have been ruled “invalid” and Maidana has the option to wear the NSAC approved stock red Evelast MX gloves. still no word from team Maidana/
