Olympians Ramirez and Spence Advance to round 2!

19 year-old Olympic lightweight Jose Ramirez edged out a close 21-20 victory over France’s Rachid Azzedine on Sunday afternoon. Ramirez of Avenal Ca., got off to a shaky start but won the first two rounds. Azzedine rallied back in the third but it wasnt enough.

“I had no doubt I won the fight” said Ramirez “I felt a little rusty and a little tense it being my first olympics. The fight was close but I knew I won.”

Welterweight Olympian Errol Spence Jr. scored a 16-10 victory over Brazil’s Myke Ribeiro de Carvalho. Spence got off to a quick start, jumping to a 12-7 score after 2.
