Gallery Reyes KOs Perez in 3!

Welterweight Artemio “King” Reyes (20-2, 15 KOs) stopped veteran Sergio Perez (28-15, 19 KOs) in the third round Friday night at the Double Tree Hotel in Ontario Ca.

The Colton fighter landed a crippling left hook to the body in the third round and Perez was down for the count. He would beat the count but a second shot to the liver moments later had him back on the canvas. Referee Raul Caiz Jr. would reach the count of ten with the Tijuana fighter on his knees and hunched over in pain. Official time of the stoppage was 1:39

In the co-feature, female jr. flyweight Jolene Blackshear (8-3, 3 KOs) earned a split decision over the previously unbeaten Sindy Amador (10-1, 1 KO) after eight all-action rounds. The favored Amador wasn’t her normal whirlwind of punches, instead she opted to press forward behind an occasional jab and then fire off combinations. Problem was, Blackshear soon began to time Amador as she moved in and cracked the Riverside fighter with pin-point accurate right hands. Unfazed, Amador continued to work but could not get out of the way of Blackshear’s offense, which quickly turned to target practice as the fight progressed. A straight right, left hook combo sent Amador crashing to the canvas in the seventh. Amador would survive and make it to the eighth where she ran into a left hand that put her down again. The firefight would go the distance with Blackshear getting the nod with scores of 76-74, twice. The third judge somehow saw 76-74 for Amador.

On the undercard,

Super middleweight Alex Theran (14-0, 8 KOs) out-boxed and outworked a game Juan Carlos Rojas (5-6, 4 KOs) to earn a one-sided unanimous decision after six rounds of action. Rojas was game and stalked the Colombian fighter but Theran was just too fast and too accurate. All three judges were in agreement with a score of 60-54.

San Diego super bantamweight Jorge Ruiz (3-0, 1 KO) score a controversial majority decision over a game Alex Reyes (0-3) of Houston TX. Reyes came out aggressive at the bell and kept the pressure on as Ruiz fought off the attack with a bad shoulder roll and counter hook. In the end, one judge would see it a draw while the deciding judges saw it 40-36 and 39-37 for Ruiz. The crowd boo’d the decision and obviously favored the aggression of Ruiz.

Riverside’s Ralph Lopez (7-1, 5 KOs) scored a second round KO over German Valdez (2-2, 1 KO) in a middleweight bout scheduled for four. Lopez dropped Valdez in the opening round and finished the job in the second with a flurry of shots. Referee Raul Caiz Jr. would step in and save the Mexican fighter from further dammage as he waved it off at the 29 second mark with Valdez hurt but on his feet.
