When the news broke Thursday that Brandon Rios suffered a shoulder injury and would be forced to pull out of his July 7th match-up with Mauricio Herrera, many including his opponent weren’t buying it.

Rumors of weight issues and lack of dedication began to suface but today the fighter known as “Bam Bam” released a statement in defense of the accusations.

First of all I want to thank (you) all (because) I have received so many positive comments and well wishes here on facebook and twitter I’ve always said I have great and supportive true fans, I appreciate all ur support.

Second, there are a lot of rumors going around that I pulled out of the fight because of I was partying and drinking, that’s not true. I take my career very seriously, and have been training almost immediately after my last fight. I would not compromise my Boxing career with bad decisions.

I went (to Pacquiao vs Bradley) because I was invited by Top Rank, went to the fights, did the interviews as I was asked and came home to my family.

Another rumor is that I was not going to make weight, also false, my weight is fine I was already under the nutrition for training, running and training 6 days a week. Like I said due to the injury on Wednesday, I was told by the doctors I had to rest it for 4 weeks. Again, I was really looking forward to fighting at this new junior welterweight division, but in this career we also have to be well aware, injuries happen. I’m going to do what the doctors have advised me, and promise to my fans I will come back stronger than ever. Thank u once again.
