Rios vs Abril heats up in L.A | Photos and Quotes!

During a press conference Monday for their upcoming World Lightweight title fight on Saturday, April 14 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Former world champion Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios and WBA interim lightweight champion Richard Abril turned up the heat when a customary face-off turned into a all-out shoving match.

Here’s what the two had to say moments before they had to be seperated.

Richard Abril (17-2, 8 KOs):

Everybody has been asking about the Miami press conference and the issue between Brandon Rios and I. I pushed him because I only heard the ‘F’ word. I have nothing against him. I went there just to let them know that I was the Interim champion and I was the person that Brandon Rios needed to fight.

On April the 14th you are going to see a great fight!

Brandon Rios (29-0, 22 KOs):

April 14th, I am going to gain my title back and I will be the lightweight champion again.

Richard Abril? Who’s Richard Abril? Nobody knew who he was and that will remain after he fights me.

I’m going to be ready 100%. The weight is coming off more. What happen in New York was a fluke and I didn’t [drop the weight] right. I take full responsibility, I didn’t eat right but now I have a nutritionist and you can see it right now. The way I look, the way I feel, I’m happy, I’m smiling and I feel great.

April 14th, I’m getting my title back and moving on to bigger and better things because I didn’t spend 8 years as a professional to let an unknown guy come take that away from me.
