Today in Las Vegas Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Alfredo “El Perro” Angulo both made weight… Well after the weight limit was raised to 155 lbs., a pound over the Jr middleweight limit.

Before the fighters stepped on the scale, it was anounced that the “non-title” fight had been contracted (or re-contracted) at 155 lbs. and according to ESPN’s Dan Rafael a deal was made for $100,000 to which Canelo pays Angulo. According to a follow up tweet, Canelo cannot weigh more than 168 lbs. at 3 P.M tomorrow. If he is, the two will have to reach another agreement.

Angulo, who looked drained making his way to the scale, weighed in at 154.5 lbs and said:

“Im prepared for the 12 but if it ends be for the 12, well that’s better for me”

Canelo came in right at 155 lbs and said:

“This is a fight of style and its going to be a war. In my last fight I didn’t have a good dancing partner but this time I think I do.”

In the co-feature, Leo Santa Cruz weighed in at 122 lbs. and will face Cristian Mijares who also scaled in 122 lbs.

“I havent fought people of his experience but those are the fighters I like to fight” said Santa Cruz in response to Mijares saying he had not fought anyone with his level of experience.
