Joseph ‘Jo Jo’ Diaz wins Pro debut!

South El Monte’s Joseph Diaz (1-0) won his professional debut with a dominate four round unanimous decision victory over Vincent Alfaro (5-3, 2 KOs) on Saturday. The 2012 US Olympian dominated the action from the opening bell and was awarded a knockdown in the final round. A punch to the gut –which may have strayed below the belt line- sent Alfaro to the canvas in the fourth. In the end, judges would see it a shut out with scores of 40-35, all for Diaz.

“It felt great to turn pro” Said Diaz “I need to get my timing down as a professional but overall it was a good experience. It was great fighting in my hometown, I wanted to put on a good show and I think I did. Hopefully I can get back in there in January or February.”

The fight came as part of Amir Khan vs. Carlos Molina at the L.A Memorial Sports Arena in Los Angeles.
