Leo Santa Cruz outpoints Guevara in L.A!

IBF bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz (23-0-1, 13 KOs) successfully defended his title by earning a hard-fought unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Albert Guevara (16-1, 6 KOs) after 12 rounds Saturday at the L.A Memorial Sports Arena in Los Angeles Ca.. Guevara started with a solid body attack but Santa Cruz would finish strong and earn scores of 116-112, 118-110 and 119-109.

“I’m sorry I didn’t give that good of a show today” Said Santa Cruz “I felt a little different, I couldn’t breath since the 3rd round. I usually throw more body shots but couldn’t this time, he was moving too much. I’ve been fighting a lot and haven’t given myself enough time to rest in between”

“i was very tough for him” said Guevara “Leo was very good, very tough and very strong. I know I hurt him in the 12th round but in the 5th round, he hurt me. I said that I was going to be in there and not run around. We had a great fight. I had to stay with my style and box. They called us 3 and a half weeks ago and I thought I did great”
