Thompson Boxing Inks 2 So. Cal. prospects!

Thompson Boxing Promotions is opening 2013 strong with the new additions of two Southern Californian prospects. Freshly inked to the growing list of Thompson Boxing prodigies are Giovanni Santillan and Joshua Conley.

Santillan, 21, was born and raised in San Diego where he amassed an amateur record of 85 wins and only five losses. He was also a member of the U.S. Junior National Boxing team. The lanky southpaw junior welterweight was a rival of Frankie Gomez and would be thrilled to get into battle with him as a professional. Santillan has a pro record of six wins and no losses and will fight under the Thompson banner on February 22; he is managed by Bob Calhoun.

“I’m happy to be promoted by Thompson Boxing.” said Giovanni Santillan “I have fought several fights on their cards in the past and I am comfortable with their shows. And how well they move their guys. Their shows are always packed with excited fans that really loves boxing. I am proud to be a part of their stable and can’t wait to make them proud!”

Conley, 20, is a junior middleweight trained by his father Jimmy Williams and hails from San Bernardino; he will be making his debut as a Thompson Boxing fighter on February 22 at the Ontario Doubletree Hotel. Currently he has four wins and no losses. All four wins have come by decisive knockout. As an amateur he had 90 bouts.

“I am excited to be added to Thompson’s growing list of boxing stars. I am confident in my ability to continue winning and will continue to put in hard work as I have been. My teams knows of my potential and we feel that teaming up with Thompson Boxing is what is needed to take me to the next level of my career,” said Joshua Conley who is advised by esteemed trainer Henry Ramirez.

“We are always looking for the best talent out there and we have found two diamonds in the rough,” said Ken Thompson upon signing both boxers. “These young men will set themselves in a great adventure that will lead them to a belt and a better future, we want to make sure that happens.”

Thompson Boxing Promotions has a busy year ahead. On Saturday, January 19 Juan Carlos “Mini” Burgos will lace up his gloves and go toe-to-toe against Richard “Rocky” Martinez LIVE on HBO for the WBO Jr. Lightweight title.
